Amazing bay between San Vincenzo and Piombino. The main peaks are on the right corner of the bay and on the opposite side, on the left, next to the harbor (this peak is called “La Chiesina”). Sometimes the waves start breaking in the center of the bay, producing some long left and right-handers: this happens only with a decedent swell (more than 4 feet), so not very often. The peculiarity of this place is that it is often protected from active southwest wind, and becomes the only surfable place during active swells. The best swell direction for this location is from the west and northwest. Optimal wind direction for surfing at Baratti comes from the northeast, east, southeast, and south.
