Bananas is a surf spot located on the southern edge of Peniche, between Mohle Leste and Supertubos. The spot breaks on a sandy sea bottom which is usually a good choice in summer as it is sheltered from northern winds. The ideal swell directions for Bananas are southwest, west, and northwest, while the best wind directions are north, northeast, and east. During the winter months, the waves can become quite big and often close out, making them more suitable for experienced surfers. However, in the summer, it can be one of the best waves in Peniche. Glassy walls break against the sand, providing smoother, more manageable conditions. The length of the wave at Bananas can vary, offering both short and long rides depending on the swell and tide conditions. It is not distinctly crowded but does attract a fair number of surfers, especially when the conditions are optimal. Given the variability in wave size and quality, mid-length boards and shortboards are commonly used here. Soft boards and beginner boards are not recommended during the winter months due to the challenging conditions. Respect the local crew.
